How to Uninstall the Windows 10 PC Cleaner Pro
A registry cleaner that is usually bundled with other applications is the PC Cleaner Pro. It searches the Windows Registry and offers to delete redundant values, such as uninstalled program entries and other unwanted values, presumably in order to reduce the size of your registry database and boost the efficiency of your computer.
PC Cleaner Pro exhibits disruptive behavior that makes it a potentially unwanted application, including dubious installation practices and repeated pop-ups and alerts (PUP). In this case, during the installation of another application, the installation of Pro PC Cleaner is shown in the third dialog window, with the 'Accept' button located in a way that makes it easy to press accidentally. As soon as PC Cleaner Pro is mounted next to the original program the user requested, a scan begins without any user-directed prompt on the user's computer: The software shows a warning (with a blinking warning sign!) about the device being compromised after the scan is done, in an effort to alert and encourage the user to register and buy a full version of the product.
A dialog window opens when you push the Clean Now button, urging you to "fix the problems detected" and saying they are of a high "cleaning urgency," asking the user to register the program and include a license key:
If you press Register Now, a web page opens advising the user to "Register Pro PC Cleaner below to fix these possible Windows registry errors and instantly speed up your PC."
If the customer provides their email address, a discount on the Pro edition of PC Cleaner Pro is provided with a coupon that expires inadvertently on the same day as the initial installation. Note also the mistake in subtraction in the discount below:
In the Windows task scheduler, PC Cleaner Pro often schedules two activities without the knowledge of the user:
The first task above schedules a regular popup window above the task bar that appears:
- time a new user logs into the device, the second scheduled task initiates a new scan.
To get PC Cleaner Pro uninstalled:
*If you're running Windows 7, click the "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen and then click "Control Panel." *If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, right-click the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen, and from the menu, select Control Panel.*Under Programs in the Control Panel, click Uninstall a program.
*Right-click Cleaner for Pro PC and pick Uninstall.
*A dialog window opens when you click Uninstall:
*In this browser, select 'Yes'. Then another dialog window will open to ask you to rethink your decision by offering the software to solve any of your problems for free.
*Click the greyed-out button that says "Uninstall now" to complete the uninstallation.
